Mine Monsters

Live

Web · tablet-first · one saved world

A block world you dig into for materials, and those materials become monsters. There are two ways to get one and they feel nothing alike: craft it from what you have mined, which means saving up and spending deliberately, or catch one in the wild, which means taking a risk and getting lucky. Both stay worth doing, so neither half of the game turns into filler.

Monsters have types and battle each other on a five-type ring, they level up and evolve, and the ones you are not using wait in the Box rather than being lost. Trainers walk the world and will notice you. There are dozens to find, and more are still being invented.

It runs entirely in the browser with no install and no account — the world lives in the device's own storage, and a transfer code moves it to another one by hand. Towns, gyms and their leaders are specified and not built, which is also the point at which the world would become endless rather than a single fixed map.

Built by an eight-year-old and his uncle, which is the whole reason it exists and most of the reason it looks the way it does.
