Arrows

Live

Web · phone-first · one board · daily challenge

Arrows sit on a grid in runs of one to three cells, each with a head at its tip. Tap one and it slides off the board — but only if every cell between its tip and the edge is empty. Since each arrow is also the thing standing in someone else's way, the puzzle is never which arrow to take, only which order to take them in.

Tap an arrow that cannot move and it refuses: it flashes red, whatever stopped it flashes orange, and you lose a life. Three collisions puts the board back the way it started rather than ending the run, because the content of the puzzle is the ordering and a dead end you could not retry would be a strange thing to punish.

Levels run from one upward and do not stop. The grid grows from five squares to eight over the first forty-six, the board packs tighter, and the number of arrows you can move on the first tap falls from eight to two. Daily is a single board, the same one for everyone, turning over at your own midnight.

There is no account and no server. Which level you reached and which boards you cleared live in the browser and nowhere else.
